 "It could be said that spring is floral season, but then, like clockwork, summer arrives and it’s wildflowers from coast to coast. As our display director Erika can attest: these fields, growing far and bright with abandon, are a sight to behold. “They’re truly mesmerizing. The endless rows of poppies or the calmness of lavender en masse—you can’t help but pause and take it all in.” We couldn’t agree more, and are thrilled to showcase both the real and the abstract beauty of these blooms in our new windows. Starting with simple images, we transformed each field using our own impressionistic reflections: three-dimensional swipes of paint, clay forms acting as pointillistic strokes, torn jersey dripping down the canvas, and more. Direi che sia stato amore a prima vista quando per la prima volta vidi le opere di Claire Basler, pittrice francese dal grande talento. Nel suo atelier alla porte di Parigi crea opere dal grande valore evocativo.

Lontano dalle tendenze astratte e concettuali che hanno dominato gli anni '80, Claire Basler ha scelto, fin dall'inizio, di svolgere un ruolo laterale, con una predilezione per i fiori, una decisione un po 'rischiosa, in quanto evoca una forma di arte desueta. Ma, lungi dal lasciarlo senza vita, il potere evocativo del suo tocco dona ai materiali inanimati vita e sensualità.

Away from the abstract and conceptual tendencies which dominated the 80s, Claire Basler chose, from the beginning, to play a side role, with a predilection for flowers, a somewhat risky decision, as this evokes an old-fashioned art. But far from leaving it lifeless, the evocative power of her touch makes the inanimate materials living and sensual.

Amanda Hoskins e i paesaggi della Cornovaglia

Amanda Hoskin has emerged over the past eight years as a leading exponent of Cornish landscape painting. She knows her subject well, her paintings of Cornish coastlines are developed as a result of many hours spent walking through and observing this lovely rich landscape. Her long term physical engagement with this enchanting environment provides her with a depth of knowledge which is both intellectually succinct and emotionally fluent. What you see in a painting by Amanda is her vision of her journey and this is not the vision of a visitor, it is the vision of a native of this landscape.

Amanda Hoskin è emersa nel corso degli ultimi otto anni come esponente di punta della pittura di paesaggio della Cornovaglia. Amanda conosce molto bene il suo soggetto, i suoi dipinti delle coste della Cornovaglia sono il risultato di molte ore trascorse camminando e osservando questo paesaggio incantevolmente ricco. Il suo intenso impegno fisico con questo ambiente incantevole le fornisce una profondità di conoscenza che è sia intellettuale che emotiva.
